Marc E. Bassy Biography

Marc Griffin, known by his stage name Marc E. Bassy, hails from the vibrant San Francisco Bay Area and has made a name for himself as an American singer and songwriter. His musical journey began as the frontman of the Los Angeles-based pop band 2AM Club. However, he ventured into a successful solo career, captivating audiences with his unique sound.

Bassy's solo discography is a testament to his musical evolution. He made his mark with the 2014 mixtape "Only the Poets" and followed it up with the 2015 release "East Hollywood." In 2016, he dropped the EP "Groovy People," featuring the hit single "You & Me" with G-Eazy. His debut album, "Gossip Columns," arrived in 2017 under Republic Records, showcasing his versatility and artistry.

Choosing to chart his own course, Marc E. Bassy transitioned to independence and founded New Gold Medal Records. This move allowed him to release full-length projects like "PMD" in 2019 and "Little Men" in 2021, further establishing himself as an artist with a unique voice and creative vision.

Before making waves with his solo career, Bassy honed his songwriting skills, penning tracks for notable artists such as CeeLo Green, Sean Kingston, Wiz Khalifa, and Ty Dolla Sign. His ability to craft compelling songs played a pivotal role in shaping his career.

Born and raised in the Bay Area, Marc Griffin's roots run deep in the region's rich musical heritage. His upbringing included living in various areas, including Richmond, CA, and Mill Valley. He attended Tamalpais High School and later pursued music at UC Santa Cruz. However, his passion led him to leave school after two years to co-found 2AM Club in Los Angeles, setting the stage for his remarkable journey in the music industry.

While his tenure with 2AM Club was marked by an album and mixtape, the band faced challenges and eventually went on hiatus after parting ways with its label, Sony/ATV. Undeterred, Griffin embarked on a new chapter in Los Angeles, where he focused on songwriting for fellow artists. His moment of recognition came in Chicago, Illinois, where he achieved a unique feat—setting the record for the longest air guitar solo at a silent disco, performing in front of an awe-inspiring audience of 30,000 people.

With the release of "Only the Poets" and "East Hollywood," Marc E. Bassy garnered critical acclaim and caught the attention of Universal Republic Records. This milestone catapulted his career, positioning him as a rising star in the music industry.

In 2017, Griffin embarked on the exciting Bebe & Bassy Tour alongside American singer and songwriter Bebe Rexha. The tour was in support of his debut album, "Gossip Columns," released on October 13 of that year. Unfortunately, the tour was cut short due to a vocal infection that required Rexha to undergo strict vocal rest. In March 2018, Griffin embarked on a US tour with fellow Bay Area artist Rexx Life Raj in support of his debut album, showcasing his dedication to connecting with fans through live performances.
