Markeyvius LaShun Cathey, known in the music world as Key Glock, is a prominent American rapper and songwriter hailing from Memphis, Tennessee. Born on August 3, 1997, in South Memphis, Key Glock's journey through life has been marked by resilience and determination. Raised by his grandmother and aunt, he faced early challenges when his mother, Tameika Cathey, was incarcerated when he was just 20 months old, a period that would extend to 15 years. With an absent father figure, he navigated a tumultuous upbringing, visiting his mother in prison during his youth.

Despite the hardships, music became a beacon of distraction and hope in Key Glock's life. His influences spanned hip-hop legends like Gucci Mane, Lil Wayne, and the iconic Three 6 Mafia. He held Project Pat in high regard, describing him as the " Drake of Memphis" and citing Pat's tracks "If You Ain't From My Hood" and "Gorilla Pimp" as life-changing. In fact, one of Key Glock's breakout songs, "Dig That," drew inspiration from the chorus of "Gorilla Pimp."

Key Glock embarked on his musical journey by recording a freestyle of Future's "Ain't No Way Around It" in 2011, marking the beginning of his artistic exploration.

In 2017, Key Glock caught a significant break when he was signed by Young Dolph to Paper Route Empire, a label that would become instrumental in his career. He made his debut single, "Racks Today," featuring rapper Jay Fizzle, available to the public on January 25 of that year. On June 16, 2017, he released his debut mixtape, "Glock Season," under the Paper Route Empire label, solidifying his place in the rap scene.

Key Glock's collaborative efforts with Young Dolph, including the album "Dum and Dummer," made waves, reaching number eight on the Billboard 200 chart. Their single "Major" climbed to number 47 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart.

In January 2020, Key Glock embarked on a European tour with Young Dolph, performing in cities like Manchester and London and bringing UK rapper Blade Brown along as a supporting act. The "No Rules" Tour commenced in 2020, kicking off in Seattle on February 5.

Key Glock's debut studio album, "Yellow Tape," was released on January 31, 2020, debuting at number 14 on the Billboard 200 chart. He followed up with the release of his sixth mixtape, "Son of a Gun," on May 22, 2020, notable for featuring no guest appearances.

The partnership between Key Glock and Young Dolph continued to thrive, with the release of "Dum and Dummer 2" in March 2021. It served as a sequel to their 2019 project. Notably, Key Glock paid tribute to Young Dolph with the song "Proud," featured on the Dolph tribute compilation "Long Live Young Dolph."

In November 2021, tragedy struck the hip-hop community when Young Dolph was tragically murdered. Key Glock, who was also his cousin by marriage, paid homage to him with a heartfelt tribute, calling him his "lefthand man, brother, cousin, and mentor." To honor his cousin, he even got a tattoo of Young Dolph.

On February 24, 2023, Key Glock released his third studio album, "Glockoma 2," a sequel to his 2018 mixtape "Glockoma."
