Alex Sensation Biography

Alex Sensation, originally known as Javier Alexander Zalazar, is a renowned radio DJ, influential musical curator, and accomplished recording artist. Hailing from Bogotá, Colombia, he embarked on a transformative journey when he immigrated to the United States during his childhood. His passion for music ignited at the age of 16, heavily influenced by his older brother, a seasoned club DJ. With a natural talent for selecting and mixing records, Alex secured early DJ gigs in clubs, often using a little deception regarding his age. By the age of 17, he was already making waves at the world-famous Copacabana.

While working at the Copa, Alex Sensation was approached by Tony Luna, a figure at Caliente 105.9 FM and later the program director for Amor 93.1 FM. Luna recognized Alex's talent and offered him a weekend position as a mixer. Alex accepted the opportunity, and his career took a significant turn. He continued to hone his craft at Caliente 105.9 FM for about a year-and-a-half until the station underwent format changes.

Six months after leaving Caliente, Alex Sensation received a pivotal offer from La Mega 97.9 FM, New York's premier Latin music radio station. He assumed the role of the main mixer for a segment titled "La Mega Mezcla del Mediodía." Alex Sensation quickly became the station's most prominent DJ, captivating audiences with his electrifying mixes. His career continued to ascend as he performed at iconic venues like Madison Square Garden, Izod Center, Nokia Theater, and the United Palace, consistently playing to sold-out crowds.

In 2009, Alex Sensation released the mix album "Alex Sensation & Friends: La Mega Mezcla" on Planet Records, further solidifying his status as a musical force to be reckoned with. His outstanding contributions to the industry were recognized in 2013 when he received an ACE (Association of Latin Entertainment Critics) Award. Beyond the United States, Alex Sensation expanded his reach to international audiences, gracing stages in Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, Colombia, Canada, Spain, Italy, Argentina, Ecuador, Mexico, Uruguay, and Aruba.

His foray into music production and collaboration was marked by the release of the single "Bailame" in September 2015, featuring Yandel and Shaggy, under Firma through E-One. The following month, Alex Sensation inked a record deal with Universal Music Latin Entertainment. He joined forces with Gente De Zona for the single "La Mala y la Buena," which reached number 17 on the Hot Latin Songs chart, followed by the hit "Que Va" featuring Ozuna the next year. In 2018, his track "Fantasia" with trap sensation Bad Bunny landed at 34 on the chart, while "La Diabla" with Nicky Jam entered at 36 in October. Alex Sensation continued to make waves with collaborations like "Pa Lant," featuring Anitta and Luis Fonsi, released in 2019.
