Ziwe Fumudoh Biography
Ziwe Fumudoh is an American stand-up comic and comedic writer born in 1992. The Massachusetts native would pursue a career in entertainment writing during college, and she ended up double majoring in film, radio, & television in addition to African American studies. Ziwe Fumudoh would go on to intern for Comedy Central and write for comedians such as Stephen Colbert and Trevor Noah.
Ziwe Fumudoh would work in improv, start a YouTube channel, and intern for popular internet comedy website The Onion. By 2017, she has begun writing for Robin Thede’s show and soon saw success with her YouTube videos due to her unique take on racial faux pas. By 2019, Ziwe Fumudoh had begun writing for the Desus and Mero show, continuing to work on it as it became one of the hottest new comedy shows on television.
Ziwe Fumudoh has been featured in several major publications including Cosmopolitan, The New Yorker, and Vanity Fair, among others. She has almost a quarter of a million followers on both Twitter and Instagram, the latter propelled her to solo success when she started an Instagram Live series during the COVID-19 pandemic. Recently, Ziwe Fumudoh would earn her first show on Showtime, named after her with the first season garnering critical acclaim.
Ziwe Fumudoh is currently working on the second season of her own show entitled Ziwe, which was renewed recently after the summer success of the first.
