The Driver Era Biography
The Driver Era, an electrifying musical duo comprised of the immensely talented Lynch siblings, Rocky and Ross, embarked on a unique artistic journey rooted in their R5 days. Their evolution from R5 to The Driver Era began with a digital transformation on March 1, 2018. R5's social media platforms underwent a radical makeover, shedding their past and emerging as The Driver Era. Ross Lynch took to Instagram the following day to announce the birth of The Driver Era, a musical endeavor shared with his brother Rocky.
Their debut was nothing short of electric, as tantalizing previews of their first single, "Preacher Man," lit up Twitter and Instagram. The name 'The Driver Era' was born from a meaningful conversation during a car ride, signifying the profound musical voyage ahead.
"Preacher Man" made its debut on March 16, 2018, complete with a visually stunning music video. It swiftly became the band's signature track, and they focused on it extensively. Additionally, they teased "Mary Jane," a Rocky-exclusive composition that kept fans eagerly awaiting its official release.
The journey continued with special remixes of "Preacher Man" on May 25, 2018. On August 24, 2018, The Driver Era unveiled "Afterglow," initially on YouTube before making its way to Spotify. The band even accidentally leaked "My Silver Lining Is Overdue," a song intended for the film "Turnover," featuring their sibling and bandmate, Riker Lynch.
October 26, 2018, marked a milestone with "Low," the band's first official single sung by Rocky Lynch, showcasing his versatility beyond the guitar and production roles.
Their musical progression continued with "Feel You Now" on March 29, 2019, accompanied by a captivating video. The band teased multiple tracks in a YouTube video titled "Haven't left the garage," offering a glimpse of songs like "Welcome To The End Of Your Life," "San Francisco," "Scared of Heights," and an unnamed gem.
April 26, 2019, brought "Welcome to the End of your Life" and its eagerly anticipated video debut. June 13, 2019, was monumental as they unveiled the mesmerizing music video for "Low" and announced their debut studio album, "X," released on June 28, 2019, featuring previous hits and fresh tracks.
October 25, 2019, saw the release of two captivating singles, "A Kiss" and "Forever Always." Despite the challenges posed by the Covid-19 pandemic, The Driver Era persisted. On April 2, 2020, they released "OMG Plz Don’t Come Around" and "Flashdrive," teasing their second album.
During an event dedicated to MTV Friday Livestream's 1st anniversary, they surprised fans by announcing "Heaven Angel." In the weeks that followed, they unveiled "#1 Fan" and "Leave Me Feeling Confident" before releasing their second studio album, "Girlfriend." "The Girlfriend Tour" spanned the US, Asia, Australia, and Europe in 2021 and 2022.
